Practical AI for a normal business: where it actually helps

Skip the chatbot hype. Here's where AI saves real time: sorting documents, searching internal files and routing requests.

Start with boring tasks

The most useful AI projects are rarely the flashy ones. They take on repetitive work: sorting documents, tagging support tickets, summarising long email threads.

Connect a language model to your CRM or inbox, and it can summarise conversations, draft replies for a person to check, and flag anything urgent.

Search that understands the question

Keyword search struggles when people don't use the exact words in the document. Semantic search matches on meaning instead, so staff can ask a question in their own words and still find the right policy or guide.

Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) goes a step further. The AI answers using passages from your own documents and shows where each answer came from. This makes answers much more reliable and easy to check. It doesn't make mistakes impossible, so test it with real questions before you rely on it.

Routing requests automatically

A simple classifier can read incoming requests, work out what they're about and how urgent they are, and send each one to the right team. Nobody has to triage the inbox by hand, and customers get a reply sooner.
